Aura Travel: Our History
Aura Travel is a family-owned travel agency with offices in Festus, O’Fallon, and St. Joseph, Missouri. We began as TotallyTrips in 2006, grew by welcoming Cotter Travel (founded 1985) in 2011 and Five Star Travel & Cruises (founded 1999) in 2021, and came together under one name, Aura Travel, in 2022.
Timeline
- 1985: Cotter Travel is founded by the Cotter family.
- 1999: Five Star Travel & Cruises is founded.
- 2006: TotallyTrips is founded.
- 2011: TotallyTrips acquires Cotter Travel.
- 2021: TotallyTrips acquires Five Star Travel & Cruises.
- 2022: All locations unite under one name: Aura Travel.
Totally Trips (2006)
TotallyTrips was the original company behind Aura Travel, founded in 2006 by Jason & Mary True in Crystal City, MO. It started with a simple goal: to cruise more and visit more all-inclusive resorts. That love of cruising and all-inclusive travel is still at the heart of what our advisors specialize in today.
Cotter Travel (1985)
Cotter Travel was started in 1985 by Bob Cotter in St. Joseph, MO. Chad Cotter joined the family business during his senior year of high school and now serves as Aura Travel’s general manager. In 2011, Cotter Travel became part of TotallyTrips, bringing more than 25 years of client relationships and experience with it.
Five Star Travel & Cruises (1999)
Five Star Travel & Cruises was founded in 1999 in O’Fallon, MO by Jeanne Rozycki. With years of experience as a travel advisor, Jeanne set out to make her own mark on the travel industry as a agency owner. It joined TotallyTrips in 2021.
Becoming Aura Travel (2022)
By 2022, our offices were still working under three different names. We introduced Aura Travel to bring every location and advisor together under one name, so clients get the same experience and the same team of advisors no matter which office they walk into. Jen Evans serves as president, and she and Chad Evans are the owners.
The name is new, but the approach is the same one our agencies have used for years: we take the time to learn how you like to travel, then plan a trip around your interests, priorities, and budget.
